| Adonis1x2303-14-08, 12:20 PM | Is there a spell that lets you both grow and shrink in its duration? Like how in a polymorph you can be a dragon one round and then a pixie the next? I remeber seeing a power/spell like ability called altersize, but I can not remember what creature had it, and what book the spell can be found in. I only ask because my dm said he would let me have such a spell cast with a permanency on myself, but I dont want to be stuck either as a small or large creature. Are there any other spells that do this? Also, if I got enlarge person cast upon myself permanently, could I suppress it and return to medium size like those that have spell resistance can supress their resistance at will? Or would I be completly stuck as a size category larger? |

But it is not available in 3.5 Or would I be completely stuck as a size category larger? Stuck. That said, I would allow successful research of a 2nd level spell that will allow you to up to one size category larger than normal and return to the larger size or your own as a standard action, for the normal duration and effects of enlarge person. I would also allow successful research of a 3rd level spells that will allow you to up to one size category larger than normal and up to one size category smaller than yourself, changing anywhere in between as a standard action. Same duration and requirements as enlarge person, with relative effects for going one size category smaller than normal: halve its height and divide its weight by 8 change the creature’s size category to the next smaller one gains a -2 size penalty to Strength (to a minimum of 1), a +2 size bonus to Dexterity, and a +1 bonus on attack rolls and AC due to its increased size. |

So that would allow the dragon to pixie to dragon bit. But its a 9th level spell, so I doubt your DM would allow you to get that, let alone permanent. |
| Adonis1x2303-14-08, 06:34 PM | Thanks seeker I will definetly ask my dm if I can do that. Although my character isnt a spell caster, its a primarily melee character. Would that change anything? Like if he wasnt the one researching? |
| Seeker9503-14-08, 07:13 PM | It would change everything. A non-caster cannot research a spell. For your fighter-type to get access to this, your DM would have to agree to just adding such a spell to the game. However, if *I* were the DM, I would require your fighter to gather information in search of a sage who knew something about such matters. Said sage would likely direct you toward the caster who has been known to research such things. This caster would naturally *not* have this spell research completed, missing a very key ingredient to the process that required more risk than he was willing to undertake. But, if the fighter wanted to acquire said ingredient/component, the wizard could be grateful enough to test the spell on the fighter for free. Thus would be born the Quest for the Djenni Kreg B'erri Baund Size Reduction and Expansion Formula. :D |
