Neutral gets to decide, but states that they channel both positive and negative energy. (I know neutral can only do one or the other, not both.) My 2 friends that're brothers have different ideas on Clerics and their pain/heal spells. One states that any cleric can cast any spells, but it's a bit rarer that you'll see them cast a spell of opposing alignment. (I.E. an evil Cleric might cast a heal spell, but just for the effect of keeping himself alive.) But the other states that a Cleric can only heal or inflict pain, not both. Which is right? |

A good character could prepare an Inflict spell as easily as he could cast Owl's Wisdom. Note, however, that he can only spontaneously replace other spells with Cure spells (barring feats and domain powers). |

The difference is that an evil cleric must prepare the healing spell at the beginning of the day. If you're, for instance, a good cleric of Pelor, and you have Bull's Strength prepared from the beginning of the day, but you find that you won't need bull's strength, but you or one of your friends does need some healing, then you can lose the bull's strength and spontaneously convert it into Cure Moderate Wounds. An evil cleric could prepare cure moderate wounds at the beginning of the day, but couldn't convert bull's strength into CMW. The same applies to evil clerics with regard to inflict spells. |
