Hi all, i ran into an issue when one of my players wanted to create a spell trigger item with a low amount of charges on it. the idea was to create a wonderous item that only had 10 or 25 charges on it. To be honest i got stuck trying to figure out what kind of discount to the base price this would give, or if it should even be possible in the first place.

As a DM, i didnt mind letting him create an item with les charges. But if anyone could give me a hand on what it would cost, or where i could i find, id appreciate. i mustve reread the Creating Items section in the DMG a dozen times. Thanks.

I would just multiply the standard market price by (# of charges in custom item/# of charges in standard item). I havent seen anything in the RAW that permits something like this, but I dont see how it would be unbalancing for a vast majority of spell effects.

That being said, when it comes to wands and the like, I would impose a limit on how few charges they can have, as a 1 charge wand would be cheaper than a scroll.
