I'm looking for alternative options to boosting my Charisma besides a Cloak of Charisma.

I'm currently a 10 in CHA and need a 13.

Is there anything permanent in a one shot deal, or does it have to be an item?

Any options are welcome so I can figure out my choices.

A Rod of Splendor gives you +4 to Cha, but it is slotless, and you just have to have it equipped.

Plus you get styling outfits.

If you have the cash or capability to create use the tome of leadership +3, a mere 82,300 gp. :evillaugh

A wish (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/wish.htm) spell (or in this case, 3 wish spells) will do it for you.

A Ring of three Wishes is only 97,950 gp.

yes but since the bonus type is the same the tome is cheaper than the ring. Unless you have the spell in which case you can burn the 15,000xp to cast it yourself. Unless you make the tome in which case the thing costs 15,300xp but only costs you 3,750 xp. Either way they are both inherent bonuses and you probably don't care about these two options because your asking for a chr boost from 10 to 13. Have fun.

Is there anything permanent in a one shot deal, or does it have to be an item?Magically, the alternative to items is wish, as noted. If your issue is with the slot the cloak of charisma uses, you could research a similar item that uses a non-standard slot, such as a belt or amulet, or even one that doesn't use up a slot at all. Each of these makes the item more expensive, however. You could even research an item that gave you a +3 bonus, though the cost of research would likely defeat the purpose. In a case like that, you're better off to pay for one wish and get an item that grants you a lasting +2 enhancement bonus.

If you want to avoid items and don't care to be imprisoning efreet for wishes, you could consider the option of one or more prestige classes or templates. Please understand that I'm noting these options, not actively endorsing them; what's acceptable is between you and your DM. As written, some of these can be considered cheese and others may cripple a character. Read each carefully and consider the consequences of taking each one. Here are several such options (no numbers are given, since not all of these are OGL):
the Dragon Disciple PrC (DMG)
the Fiend-Blooded PrC (Tome of Horror)
the Disciple of Baalzebul or Warrior of Darkness PrC (Book of Vile Darkness)
any of the undead racial classes (except for mohrg) in Libris Mortis
the gnome, half-elf, or human racial paragon classes (Unearthed Arcana)
the Vow of Poverty feat (Book of Exalted Deeds)
the half-celestial, half-dragon, half-fiend, lich, or vampire template (Monster Manual)
the gravetouched ghoul template (Libris Mortis)
one of several bloodlines (such as doppleganger) from Unearthed Arcana (maximum value is achieved if your DM will allow you more than one minor bloodline and lets their benefits stack)
a possessing demon accepted as an ally (Hordes of the Abyss)

Going back to magical options, you might consider risking a wish on one of those dangerous greater effects, provided your DM has no interest in making your character completely unplayable at such times. For example, if you wished to give up some of your physical might in exchange for acquiring the presence of the average doppleganger, you might wind up with a 13 Charisma at the cost 6 points of Strength, 3 each of Strength and Constitution, or 2 each of Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution. That's a heavy price to pay for such a benefit, but you might feel it's a fair one. It can reek a bit of metagaming, however, so you might want to make sure your wish is relevant to something other than numbers, even if it costs you more.

For example, wishing to have the personal presence celestial heritage would grant you could be a wasted wish, or it could give you a +4 bonus to Charisma in exchange for a 2 point reduction in Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution, possibly with the Feeble, Frail, or Meager Fortitude flaw (Unearthed Arcana) thrown into the bargain -- though an overall -6 to your ability scores in exchange for a +4 bonus might be a reasonable return for the price of a wish in your game.

Just some thoughts. Be sure to discuss them and their consequences (for both your character and your game) with your DM before you latch onto any of the ideas offered, however.

If you are good, there is a bard spell in fiendish codex that grants you a +4 exalted bonus to dex and cha.:)

yes but since the bonus type is the same the tome is cheaper than the ring.Except that using the ring takes three standard actions, whereas the tome takes six days to function.

If someone is high enough in level to afford such an item, then chances are they can more than make up the cost difference and simultaneously gain XP, using that extra week of time to go adventuring.

But then you also have to ignore the wealth by level guidelines. Money isn't an unlimited resource.

Also keep in mind that i'm currently only a level 9. I can't exactly use/get wishes at this point. And I need a +3, not a +2. But I don't need this bonus until I'm 12th level.

Great suggestions but I convinced my DM to let me take on a challenge and the reward will be shuffling my current points. He's looking into how it works in the PHB2 right now.

Thank god I have an INCREDIBLE DM that cares mostly about the fun factor of the players and not beating on the party and playing god while saying no to everything. (Plus I'm new to this game so I still get to say "But I didn't know!") :D

No, if you adventure, you will get more xp and perhaps even gain a lv. Then you will have more treasure than the mage by virtue of being a higher lv.:)

Also, the treasure you are accrued each lv is supposed to be spread out over the entire lving process, not thrown at you in 1 sitting. Thus, so long as you have more xp than any other member from extra adventuring, you should have a proportionally higher amount of treasure as well.:)

If you don't mind returning your question with another question, why do you need to raise your average charisma?

Vest of Charisma from Complete Arcane, is the same as Cloak but a vest instead. It costs the same.

I am a half-elf wizard wanting to take the Dragon Familiar feat. I need a CHA of 13 and I currently have a CHA score of 10.

It looks like we are going to do the PHB2 quest idea. I can either do 3 and move 3 lower points (what I would PREFER to do) but I'm being pushed to pull from my INT score to get more points in one sitting to cover it. I really don't want to decrease my INT. I'm currently a 20 in INT.

But my DM spilled and told me the name of the mission will be Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder. Meaning I'm giving up some intelligence to become more charasmatic.

So great...now I get to either fight a beholder or find an eye of a beholder. Hahaha...real nice.

Any recommendations?

beg to drop your wisdom!!!!

beg, cry, moan, do anything but don't drop your INT for a familiar!

besides, with a low wis you could be a crazy mage! smart as hell, but with not a clue in the world! and your familiar could be your friend and you would wisper to him and talk with him, and ask him what he thinks.
in fact.. call him Boo. and make him a hamster... a minature giant space...

yea.

It is not worth losing Int to get an upgraded familiar.

I don't think so either but they are trying to convince me. 1 point down in INT gets me 3 in CHA i believe. And I get an ability point at 12. So I dont know.
