Charm Spell-clarification on targets [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-28-07, 10:07 PM I'm sure this has been answered but I want a quick response--The charm person spell effects humaniods-my questions are:

Does it effect Monsterous Humaniods?
(I am assuming not but want to make sure)

Does it effect shapechangers like Lycanthropy?

02-28-07, 10:32 PM Humanoids and Monstrous Humanoids are two different creature types, so your inclination is correct. Shapechanger is a subtype that is added to a type. A lycanthrope's base type does not change so if it was a humanoid (Human) before then it would be a humanoid (Human, Shapechanger) afterwards and would still qualify for the spell because it is still a humanoid.
