HOWEVER, if it was a clerical magic item, it would cost 18,000gp.

The second one is partially correct. The "ring" slot doesn't have affinity for languages, so it's 1.5x the cost. 3,500gp.

However, the comprehend languages spell has a duration of 10 minutes per level. Making it continuous *does* multiply the cost by 1.5, resulting in the same conclusion.

Further...
The ring write-up needs some work. If you are making it caster level 3, then this will affect the price. Also, it is a ring. it requires forge ring instead of craft wondrous item.

04-20-04, 11:01 AM Well, I'm close to TheRedRobedWizard's number - I got 36,000 for the cost of the first item. Plane Shift is a 5th level cleric spell, so a 9th level caster.

The formula for Use Activated is Spell Level * Caster Level * 2000. So that's 5 * 9 * 2000, or 90,000.

Now, because it has daily charges, the cost can be divided by (5 divided by number of charges per day, or 1). So dividing 90,000 by 5 gives 18,000.

Finally, the cost must be doubled for being an unslotted item, bringing it up to 36,000.

Remember that Comprehend Languages only allows you to understand what you hear or see. It does not grant the ability to speak the language in question. I agree completely with Seeker's numbers on the cost.
