Necromancy
Level: Sor/Wiz 1
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Targets: Creature or creatures touched (up to one/level)
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude partial or Will negates; see text
Spell Resistance: Yes

A touch from your hand, which glows with blue energy, disrupts the life force of living creatures. Each touch channels negative energy that deals 1d6 points of damage. The touched creature also takes 1 point of Strength damage unless it makes a successful Fortitude saving throw. You can use this melee touch attack up to one time per level.

Just want to make sure im reading it right... At every level im allowed to make a touch attack.. IE: level 4, with this spell I can make 4 touch attacks in the same round?

At 4th level, you can make 4 attacks total, but you follow the normal rules for each attack: You get one "free" attack in the round you cast the spell as part of casting it, and hold the charge on the remaining touches. In subsequent rounds, you can make as many attacks as your BAB allows until they are all gone.

Umm...well, i can't say that i've ever noticed that before. The duration is instantaneous, so...hmm.
Perhaps you are reading it correctly, but i don't think it was meant to be read like that. A typo, perhaps?

The instantaneous duration refers to the effect on the targets (as it does for all spells).

Jaelis is correct.

Note that on all touch spells with instantaneous duration you can hold the charge indefinitely, except when stated otherwise; the charge is lost when you cast some other spell or touch anything with the hand/other appendage holding the charge.

I didn't even know you got an attack PER LVEL on that spell. That would make it pretty useful on high armored foes.

It gives you a set number of times you can attempt the touch attack based on your caster level.

You still need a high enough BAB to make more than one touch attack a round. If you used a standard action to cast the spell, you would get the one free touch attack because you can make a touch the first round you cast a touch spell, but after that it is up to your BAB in subsequent rounds.

If you have caster level 9, you might have 9 charges -- but if you are a straight caster it may be better not to attempt to use those all since you can't make more than one attack in a round before level 12. If you just stand there and keep swinging with your little chilly touch, eventually something is gonna smack you.

If you want to cast another spell you have to release all remaining charges because they are being stored.

What if you used a quickened chill touch? Would you get a touch attack as part of casting the spell, and then get to use your regular attacks for extra touche(s) that same round?

Well, for example, say you were polymorphed into a 12-headed hydra, you could make 12 chill touch attacks each round.:)

my understanding of the spell is that it is more of an enhancement to your body it dont ever state that you hold a charge only that you have x amount of touch attack you can make.

i dont see why this can not be combined with corrosive grasp.

well maby im wrong.
