My friends and I were arguing about the uses of Chill Touch the other day. According the spell's description, a person can use Chill Touch a certain number of times a day on a certain number of creatures a day. What confused me is the following:

1. Time: The duration is written as instantaneous. Does this mean, for example, that a 6th level wizard could use it six times, but only in a single round? How would that be possible? Even if the caster had the best BAB progression, you can't make six touch attacks in a single turn, right?

2. Holding the Charge: Like other touch spells, a wizard can hold the Chill Touch charge until it casts another spell or touches something. But does Chill Touch have multiple charges because it can be used multiple times? Or does the effect of Chill Touch get used all up when you use it during your turn?

3. Targets: Chill Touch has a target of Creature or creatures touched (One/level). Does this mean that a person couldn't use more than a single use of Chill Touch on one creature? That they can't use all of their uses of Chill Touch on the same creature?

Please help me understand the spell.

Time: It's duration is instant because when you use the attack it does all it's effects at once (with the exception of undead who flee for a number of rounds on a failed save).

Holding the charge: You can hold the charge for as long as you have charges to use.

Targets: You can hit as many or as few creatures as you want; use all the attacks on one target or several. You can make a number of touch attacks up to what is allowed by your BAB with any other modifiers (such as haste) figured in.

You get 1 Touch per level. So you have to hold the Charge since it is impossible at level 11 for level 11 Wizard to use them all up.

Technically, you can store them 24 hours since only limit if using them.
