| SephDragoon02-10-07, 12:41 AM | Cindering Splash Conjuration (Creation) [Acid] Level: Sorc/Wiz 6 Components: V, S, M Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Close (25ft + 5ft/2 levels) Effect: Large Blob of Acid Duration: Instantaneous Saving Throw: Reflex Partial, or Reflex Half (see text) Spell Resistance: No You must succeed on a ranged touch attack to hit with a huge blob of acid. If the ranged touch attack is successful, they get a reflex save or are burned completely through by acid. Creatures immune to critical hits or immune to acid, and objects are treated as automatically making the save. If the save is made, the target instead takes 1d4 acid damage per caster level (Max 15d4), but receive another reflex save for half damage. Material Component: A vial of acid that is used up in the casting of the spell. I could really use some feedback on this. I am not good with save or dies, but this is inspired by some strange red acid stuff we encountered in a dungeon, which was particularly potent. I was wanting to research a spell that conjured some of this acid and used it as a weapon |

| burntgerbil02-10-07, 11:00 PM | well, It's similar to disentegrate - but better in that its a flat-out save-or-die (at least that's what think your intent is) and even if they save - you're talking about anywhere in the neighborhood of 11 - 15d4 of acid damage. Then another clumsy save for half of that damage ? The saves are reflex saves - so that aspect weakens the spell a little bit compared to disentegrates' fort saves. But does it weaken it enough to compare its instant death to disentegrates 22 - 40d6 of damage ? You also should note somewhere in there, that if this is a super-potent acid, if it could damage objects and what effect it has on them. Disentegrate only does a flat out 5d6 on a save - I suggest something of this nature - a flat number. In that case you will have a nearly-identical (but more powerful) conjuration version of disentegrate. Keep in mind that I am no expert - probably someone who knows less than you do, but I wanted to offer what help I could. |
| SephDragoon02-10-07, 11:34 PM | Hm... I guess that part wasn't clear. It acts on objects as if they made the first reflex save, aka, damage only. And I do see what you mean about flat damage. Finger of Death is the same way, but a little more variable. 3d6 +1 per caster level. My main concern is, what level would this spell be? I guessed 6, but I think it may be higher. |
