| Dark000110-18-05, 05:04 PM | So since the wording is a bit vague in this - what things does the +3 apply to, as the description only says "checks". THe PHB defines checks as just about everything but attack rolls and saving throws. THe reason I'm asking is that our paladin has it, and since his charisma adds to his saving throws, he is making the argument that the circlet should add to his saving throws as well. Anyone know if there is any errata to this, or is the paladin just stretching things a bit? :) |

| Kendrick10-18-05, 06:16 PM | Skill uses are checks. Anything else that's a check should actually say "make a charisma check" or "this is a charisma check". |

(In both instances, it is explicitly labeled as a Charisma check.) Saving throws are not based on Charisma, they are based on your base saving throws from your class, modified by your Con/Dex/Wis, and in the case of a paladin, modified also by Cha (but not based upon Cha). Note that the turning check for Turning Undead is a Charisma check. (This is the roll to see what HD of undead you can possibly affect, not the turning-damage roll to see how many HD you actually affect.) As Kendrick has said, anything that is a Charisma check (not just a skill check) will say so. |
