I mean can I really as a lvl 7 Wizard, Polymorph anyone into anything? Seems pretty powerfull to polymporph someone into say a cow or a duck and he is allowed just a Fortitude save against DC18. (lvl 4 spell and +4 for 18int) Oh btw whats a good defense against phantasmal killer?

Baleful Polymorph is a cousin to that spell and is only one level higher. Oh btw whats a good defense against phantasmal killer? Well a few things actually. Depends on level and cost but here are a few ideas off the top of my head. 1. Very High Will Saves, jack it up with items. 2. Very High Fort Saves 3. If you are wearing a Helm of Telepathy you can turn the PK back on the caster if you make the Will save. 4. Contigency Spell with a counterspell effect for that 5. Ring of Spell Turning 6. Items of Absorbtion (Rod of Absorbtion, Ioun Stone, etc.) I would have to look, but I think there is a spell that lets you see illusions for what they are.

With the Phantasmal Killer it's rather difficult we're a lvl 7 Party so getting some really expensive stuff like ring of spelll turning is out of reach. So one lvl 7 wizard would have a REALLY easy way to kill us. A DC 18-20 for fort & will isn't that easy to overcome as a lvl 7 char.

Well thats why its called Phantasmal Killer, but you have to remember you have to fail TWO saves for it to kill you. Typically speaking most classes usually have a good save on one or the other. A level 7 wizard (or Sorc) would have a tough time wiping out the party considering the spell is single target. In addition, if you are that worried about the spell you could always set yourself up to counterspell it. The only other thing I can think of is maybe getting scrolls or something that would grant you a SR? As far as Poly Other, I will have to wait until next week to look at my friends T&B and see what it will say and how it is different than Baleful Polymorph. The DM could always use Rule 0 and say that spell is not in game if they think it is too powerful.

shannonKnight 01-30-05, 06:15 PM	Heh, thanks for your answers! Was just a bit baffed as I fought out a battle between my party and their main badass. (I am the DM, and just tweaking the challenge) What concerned me that out of 6 tries against any party member they died 4 times which was kinda ouchy.
