The Disembodied Hand invocation out of Complete Mage allows you to un-attach your hand and preform actions with it (from the spells wording, it can do any action you could do normally if the hand was still attached) including attacking, picking up objects, etc. Also, other then Hide and Move Silently, it uses the same statistics as the the warlock.

So this leads to my question:

When using your disembodied hand to slight of hand, does it still get the same penalty you get from wearing armor? I would think it would not since your armor would no longer be effecting it.

No rule for it. make your own judgment call.

The invocation says:
"Its Hide and Move Silently modifiers are equal to your warlock level. For all other purposes, its statistics are equal to yours."

You are using the hand as though it were still attached, so I would say that any armor check penalty would still apply to the Sleight of Hand skill.
