I have some problem with a character I am creating:

This character will have cleric levels and the Travel domain. The benefit of this domain is, apart of making Survival a class skill, a supernatural ability that works like the freedom of movement spell. The duration of this ability is a maximum of 1 round per CLERIC level.
I want to qualify this character for a prestige class that gives spell progression as +1 level in a divine spellcasting class possessed by the character each level. If I decide to improve her effective cleric spellcaster level, she also will improve her domain spell list (correct me if I am wrong).
If this is true, then, the duration of the Travel domain ability will not improve? I think that a prestige class that offers this spellcasting progression should be considered as "cleric" for this purpose.

Try the character development and character optimization boards for more complete and focused answers. The folks over there get these kinds of questions all the time.

For almost all Prestige Classes I can think of, your abilities related to cleric level will not improve. Consider it the price you pay for taking a Prestige Class. You will probably get new spells, and if so, your effective caster level will change. But your class level stays the same.

Travel Domain power will not improve.

You gain spells only with the PrC unless it says differently. So you keep getting the normal and domain spellcasting, but your granted powers will not improve.

Some Domains add skills to the cleric list. As such, taking a prestige class makes that ability not "stack"

Destruction grants extra damage from smite on cleric level

Death has a death strike dependent on cleric level.

Magic lets you use 1/2 your cleric level for scroll purposes

Etc. etc.

A lot of Domain powers drop in power significnatly when you Prestige out.
