I have SOME idea what it might be, but it seems hardly portable to me. Does it mean that a cleric can cast Scry only in his/her temple (after all, a druid needs a natural water pool, IIRC)? Because my vision of a font is a vessel made of stone, weighing probably a ton or more and used for baptising babies (or, in RPG, for other rituals). Or are all my dictionaries wrong and there are fonts (not used for baptism, presumably) that can really be worth just 100 GP and pack nicely into a Heward's Handy Haversack or whatever? Your help will be GREATLY appreciated. |

Don't worry, I have a couple friends who ARE native speakers who don't know what a Font is. ^_^ A font [in this case] is container of sorts that holds water, usually holy water. They're sort of difficult to describe, and come in many shapes and sizes, usually with a picture or statuette of a deity built into them. No, they are not something that you can easily carry around. They're often built into a church or simliar buliding. The idea is that the Cleric casting the spell sees the person(s) he's scrying on in the reflection of the still pool of water. If you would like a picture, try looking up "Holy Water Font" in a search engine. I'm sure you'll find some. ~Ginger |
