I hope this is the place to post this!

OK, i'm a bit confused about cleric spells. . .let me see if i have this right. a level 4 cleric can use ANY lvl 4 or less spell as long as it fits his alignment and he can also has the first 4 domain spells in each of his domains, right? BUT he has to prepair them at the certan time of day (morning, noon, whenever) so does that men that on the character sheet you just list whichever spells he has prepaired or what? or are clerics like sorcerers in that they can only learn certain spells from there list BUT once they know them the have to prepair the # of which spells that they know? im a bit confused.

Character level and spell level are two different things. A 4th level cleric can cast 0,1st, and 2nd level spells. You dont get 4th level spells until you reach 7th level.

If you look at the cleric table in your PHB, it clearly shows how many spells you get at each level. Just find your class level on the left hand columb and follow its corresponding row to the right.

As for your spells, you have to prepare them like a wizard (except you dont need a spell book). However, on any given day, you can choose any spell from the cleric list which you are capapble of casting. For you, that would mean that you can choose from any 0, 1st, and 2nd level cleric spell in the game when preparing your spells.

Hope that helps. Happy gaming.

Clerics effectively have two spell lists and two sets of spell slots. One is for regular cleric spells and the other is for your domains. On the table mentioned, you'll notice a level 4 cleric has 0: 5, 1: 3+1, 2: 2+1. Thus, your character gets 5 level 0 cleric spells, 3 level 1 cleric spells + 1 level 1 domain spell, and 2 level 2 cleric spells + 1 level 2 domain spell.

If your wisdom is high enough (and it should be), you get bonus cleric spells. If your wisdom is at least 12, you will get 4 (rather than 3) 1st level cleric spells. If your wisdom is at least 14, you will get 3 (rather than 2) 2nd level cleric spells. You don't gain bonus 0 level spells, and you only ever get 1 domain slot at each spell level, regardless of your wisdom or character level.

To prepare spells, a sorcerer or wizard must sleep (or at least rest) 8 hours, and then spend a period of time (15 minutes for sorcerers, 1 hour for wizards) to prepare spells. At this time, the wizard must choose which spells get prepared, based on the spells in his book.

Unlike arcane casters, who can prepare spells at any time as long as they have rested and it has been about a day since they last did so, divine casters always prepare their spells at a fixed time each day, but do not require rest to do so. Like wizards, divine casters must choose which spells to prepare, but may choose from their entire list (as given by the Player's Handbook), subject to level.

As mentioned above, Clerics have two lists: the regular cleric list and their domain list. You must put regular cleric spells in the regular cleric spots, and domain spells (from one of your two domains) in the domain slots. Often, the same spell will appear on both the regular cleric list and one of your domain lists - for preparation purposes, these are different spells. Sometimes, the spells even have different spell levels depending on whether you are using the cleric version or the domain version.

So, in your specific case, and assuming you have at least 14 Wis:

At preparation time (typically first thing in the morning, but you may choose a different time with DM permission), you must choose 5 0 level cleric spells, 4 1st level cleric spells and 3 2nd level cleric spells. You must also choose a 1st level domain spell and a 2nd level domain spell. At any time during the day, you may cast each of these spells once. If you want to cast the same spell more than once, you must prepare it multiple times.
