I have heard from someone before that there exists a variant of the clerics turning that instead does d6 or d8 or some such posative (or negative, based on alignment) energy damage per level or 2 levels or something like that at least :P has anybody got on information on the source of this info or a source book that i could be directed too?

I need this because it makes more sense to me for clerics to be able to destroy undead through holy power, not just make em run or fall to pieces

Thanks

So... no one has heard of this damage variant before?

I have, and there are a few of them. They do tend to be more inline with a Undead hating Cleric, I think, but am not sure if it is "broken" yet. I may be about to find out, so I'll get back to you on that part. One is in Unearthed arcana, and I believe it basically 1d6/level damage to each undead in 60ft, IF they would have been turned, and you check for each undead. Another is in I think Complete Divine, nearly the same but beleive it was just one roll, 30ft, and gave a Reflex Save. There is an affiliation bonus in Expedition into Castle Ravenloft, and this is the one I may be gaining soon, which, I think is a 30ft cone, d6/level damage, no save, but can't remember. Finally, I think there is two more siting in some older dragon mag and the Epic level handbook.

Unearthed Arcana and Expedition I know for sure. Complete Divine I believe strongly, and Dragon and Epic I am fairly sure about as the locations.

These days it is hard to find a supplement that doesn't have a turning variant for clerics. Varying targets, varying effects, varying special uses for turn attempts. Grab Complete Divine for lots of these types of variants. Then grab Champions of Valor for even more.
