Clerical Casting of Command Undead [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-14-07, 06:46 PM Is there a way that a cleric can get the 2nd level Sorc/Wiz spell "Command Undead" on his spell list?

I would think there's a domain or something that grants it, but I could't find one.

02-14-07, 07:39 PM Divine magician or some such from Complete Mage. Give up one domain for the ability to add a sorc/wiz spell to your list each level. The spell must be abjuration, divination, or necromancy.

02-14-07, 07:45 PM Nice... do you mean a Sorc/Wiz spell of each level (as in spell level), or do you mean that every level (cleric 1, cleric 2, etc.) I add a new Sorc/Wiz spell to my list? If it's the latter, do I get to add new spells on levels that aren't cleric levels? If it's the former, do I decide which spells I add at creation, or upon the gaining of access to the new spell level?

Also, are they still considered divine spells?

Yes. It's kind of like making your own domain, except that you use normal slots to cast the spells and don't get a domain power. You pick the spell once you're able to cast spells of that level.

Also, it must be taken at 1st level and requires 1 rank in knowledge (arcana). That's to keep things balanced.

Yes.

You get one spell from any of those three schools each level. Mix and match as you see fit. I suggest spell turning as your 7th-level spell. Greater arcane sight is another strong option.

Also, can my sacrificed domain be the Knowledge domain granted by Cloistered Cleric?

Hard to say. The description says you only get one domain instead of two. How that interacts with a character who gets three domains at level one is unclear.
