| Khadesh09-16-04, 04:12 AM | Please forgive me, I have not played D&D since 2nd edition a decade ago. I remember there were spheres or domains of clerical magic, almost like schools in magic in 2nd edition. Anyhow, do clerics get all spells now? Regardless of what portfolio a god had? Do speciality priests exist any more? |
| SALDAR09-16-04, 05:58 AM | Clerics do get all spells now regardless of their god's portfolio. The exceptions I'm aware of are the spells that have an alignment descriptor, good or evil. Your DM may impose others, such as a fire god not allowing a cleric to access water spells. Each clerc now gains domains based on their god. They get to choose two domains and with each domain they gain a special ability and an extra spell per day for each spell level they can cast. As for specialty priest there is no such thing anymore. In 3rd edition we have prestige classes that allow you to focus on certain aspects of interest to you and allow you to gain class features beyond what regular clerics gain. |
