I'm a bit confused about how Cleric spells work.

The book says they pray for their spells to receive them. If I cast all my spells, then pray, do I get new ones, no matter how many times a day I do this? Is it a daily thing, like a sorcerer?

Any practical help to understanding this would help.

Clerics can pray for spells once per day. This is usually a time that is considererd holy to the cleric. Clerics of pelor pray in the morning or at noon for example. This is a time of communion with their deity and takes place at the same time every day.

Short answer: clerics get their DAILY spells once per day. No matter how many times they pray.

Yeah. Your god would get pretty ticked off if he/she had to keep giving you spells throughout the day.

But, wizards are another thing. Why can't they just study their spellbook every time they need to prepare more spells? They, apparently, can only do so once per day.

I agree, Divine casters are truly confined to praying once per day. Arcane casters can rest 8 hours, memorize, cast and repeat. Just under 3 times a day, since memorizing takes an hour (or two?).

I wouldn't be surpised if there is some text prohibiting this, but I don't know of it off the top of my head.
