| Gold Katana09-21-04, 01:40 PM | Had this situation last game: Dwarf rogue steals party's BoH, flees, scurries under a porch, and (unseen) climbs in B0H. Party retrieves BoH, thinking rogue fled. Now, here comes the contentious bit - rogue pops out of BoH and sneak attacks carrier. Possible or no? Some said "no problem", others said "he could not get out by himself." |

I would say ' No he cant get out of the bag ' and did you know that anyone living creature in the bag would suffocate after 10 minutes? |
| The Master Weaver Is Warped09-21-04, 03:20 PM | Not quite the same but... BBEG put unconcious PC in a portable hole. Another PC uses a vision spell to find her, then teleports into the Portable hole, and out again with her. He never knew where she was exactly, other than a dark 10x10 space. I wouldn't say the rogue could just climb out of a portable hole that is in someone's pocket, but he might be able to get out by magical means. |
| Seeker9509-21-04, 09:21 PM | I treat the items as a "one way" opening. Nothing that goes in can get out on its own. I don't even allow someone to "dump out" a bag of holding. It always appears empty, until you reach in to get something. |

The bag is shut. He has no way to force it open. Not only that he will suffocate. |
| Gold Katana09-22-04, 08:55 AM | Bag wasn't shut - it was lying open on the ground when the PC picked it up. Wasn't concerned with suffocation at that point, this all took place in rounds, not minutes. It was resolved thus: rogue could not get out by himself, party didn't realize he was inside. After several minutes of struggling, rogue panicked and tried to cut his way out from the inside. POP! Thanks for the feedback. |
| simen_8809-22-04, 09:03 AM | So, he cut at the edges of a dimensional space, and that ejected him? Sounds weird. |
| Gold Katana09-22-04, 09:18 AM | No, sorry, I should have clarified. ... POP! Rogue go bye-bye, never to return. BoH ruined, too. |
| spike8110109-22-04, 10:47 AM | If the bag is overloaded, or if sharp objects pierce it (from inside or outside), the bag ruptures and is ruined. All contents are lost forever. If a bag of holding is turned inside out, its contents spill out, unharmed, but the bag must be put right before it can be used again. Poking your way out is pretty much the way to never never land, you're probably only gone forever if you've got no way to planeshift, DM's desgression as to which plane you go to? |
| simen_8809-22-04, 12:52 PM | Go to a plane? What is this nonsense? You are already outside planes, now you just ruined the entrance. I'd rule you are still inside the space, and will suffocate as usual unless you planeshift out of it. |
