So a player of mine recently has been on a tear of casting Murderous Mist.

For comparison:

Blindness/Deafness lvl2 sorc/wiz: Fort save or blind. Effect is Permanent, but dismissable and dispellable.

Murderous Mist, lvl4 Druid: Reflex save, or be blinded permanently (little p), not dispellable, in a 30 foot radius, 20 feet high, with a range of Close.

Huh? This could screw over an entire party! Unless reflex is your strong save, you've just been blinded. Since the cleric likely doesn't have a good ref save either, he can't even see you to clear up the problem. So, unless you can cast it yourself or have a potion on hand, you're basically screwed. You don't provoke, everyone gets a +2 (or is it 4?) to hit you, you have a 50% miss chance even if you guess the right square your enemy is in, etc. To add insult to injury, the cloud is also mobile based on the direction the druid cast it so it can roll into others...

Oh, and it kicks you in the balls while your down with a little 2d6 of hot steam, no save.

Is it just me, or is this incredibly powerful? It wipes out packs of giants, it incapacitates most adventuring parties, etc. In fact the only people who really stand a chance against it are rogue/monk types who probably have a save high enough to withstand it...

Am I off base here?

To add insult to injury, the cloud is also mobile based on the direction the druid cast it so it can roll into others...actually that is generaly more of a limitation, because the cloud is always mobile, and it is unlikly to be over any given opponent for more then 1-2 rounds because of this.

the blindness is a fairly devistating short term affect, but it is too easy to remove to considered a long term hinderance... the damage caused by the spell is very unimpressive... all in all I think it is a strong spell, but not incredibly over-powered for its level.

Consider the fact that Blindness/Deafness is range: touch and a single target. :)

Blindness/deafness is a range: medium spell.

Now, that's odd, I always thought it was touch.

It's not dispellable, but remove blindness/deafness is only a 2nd level spell.

I'm not sure which spell you're referring to, RMGCLF, but blindness/deafness is most definitely dispellable.

He is talking about the mist. The blindness of the mist in non-dispellable, blindness/deafness can be dispelled like any other spell.
