| Fend09-03-06, 04:41 AM | Self Explanitory.... but Today. my Group was traveling about a Random Dungeon when - behind an Iron door they were set upon by a Swarm of Spiders. no one knew how to deal with them, or had burning hands prepared so they simply shut the door. when the question was raised - "Would Colour spray do anything against them?" to be honest, im glad they didnt find out because i wouldnt know if it did or didnt. I can see it Rendering a swarm unconcious - but you cant Coup-degrace a Swarm of Spiders in the aftermath. So the general idea is this - Is Colour Spray on a Swarm just a Fancy way to Slow it down? or does it have no effect at all. does anyone know this? |

Swarm of Spiders only have 2HD so Colour Spray would leave them unconscious, blinded and stunned for 2d4 rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds and then just stunned for one round. Probably enough time to stamp on them? They're only small. It's up to you really, if you want the swarm to be a major encounter(probably not!) then rule accordingly, otherwise let them stamp on them. I'm sure that if you reduce there numbers enough the remaining will realize that they're no longer a "swarm" and run off! |
| PhaedrusXY09-03-06, 05:42 AM | Well, it would work except for this: Spiders are vermin. Vermin possess the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry). Mindless: No Intelligence score, and immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects). Color Spray Illusion (Pattern) [Mind-Affecting]If it had been a rat swarm, or something like that, it would have worked. :P |
| smrtgmp09-03-06, 05:51 AM | PhaedrusXY beat me to it. Vermin are immune to mind-affecting effects, so colour spray would do no good. |
