First: I want to thank you. I fully expected this thread to be someone asking for everyone else to come up with a spell list for their combat cleric. That tyou have created such a list and simply asked for feedback is a real treat. :tiphat:

Second: Although I might make different individual spell selections at each level, I think the biggest suggestion I would make is to avoid the spells that require save-for-no-effect. Bestow curse is a decent spell when it works. But a saving throw makes your round wasted. I would recommend more of your combat spells to be save-for-partial, and flesh the rest out with battlefield control spells and self-or-ally improvements (which you already have a bynch of).

I'd replace Disrupting Weapon with Spell Resistance. Unless you happen to know for a certainty you will be fighting undead, it's just going to be written down on your spells prepared list never used except as a spontaneous cure. Should an undead unexpectantly show up, Turn it or spontaneous Cure if you desire not to attack it physically.

I'd also make different spell choices in a few cases (Bane, Doom, Ethereal Jaunt) but that's only because of personal preference/bias. Disrupting Weapon, though, I think is a tactical error for generic adventure play where you don't know exactly what foes you'll face. Have a scroll or two of it if you'd like.

Thanks for the kind words Seeker. I figured that I'd get a touch more help with feedback than requests for lists.

With scrolls, he's packing a pair of Cure Critical Wound scrolls, two Divine Power ones (I know it's also on the spell list, but it seems v. useful) and one Destruction scroll. However, I am unsure on these. There is also a Wand of Hold Person.

This is actually a PC for a convention dungeon-crawl, which I shall be running. There are a few undead, and so that's why I added the Disrupt Undead spell.

Orcmonk220,

It is hard to be a combat cleric. In most cases, the best thing clerics can do is cast spells every round. However, if you are going into melee ... you are trying to use a weapon as much as possible.

A few things I would look at...

1. Consider looking at spells which have long durations and can be put up yourself, other PCs, or the entire group, well prior to combat. Examples, heroes feast.

2. Because you won't get to folks for healing as often -- consider massively buffing folks such that they can survive longer and/or overpower enemies faster so you don't need to heal as often. Mass bear's endurance, bless, prayer, etc. You might also wish to consider special longer term protections on your wizard or bard -- shield other, spell resistance, etc.

3. Consider a few more defensive spells. Protection from evil and magic circle against evil for example.

4. Consider imbue with spell ability. At those levels, you will rarely get to your lower level spells, so it is nice if some other rear line character has the ability to heal themselves or others.

5. Take heal. If you are front line, expect yourself to take a damage at rates faster than normal cure criticals can heal.

6. If you haven't thought about it, buy scrolls or potions for those lesser effect removing items. No need to use up slots for neutralize poision, cure disease, lesser restoration, etc. if you can carry scrolls or potions to do the same thing.
