| Quizzit11-05-07, 08:06 PM | First off.... is there a way to search for a specific phrase in these boards?? even putting it in quotes still nets you everything with te words command and undead in them. Way to many for me to sift thru. /snicker Anyway, How many undead can you controll (intelligent or otherwise) with the spell Command Undead? I understand that you only get 1 target per cast, but do these undead count against your total allowed with Animate Undead? |
| Kitep11-05-07, 09:14 PM | Do you mean the spell Control Undead (PHB)? |
| Quizzit11-05-07, 09:52 PM | Nope "Command Undead" (PHB) page 211 It's basically Charm person for undead, but nonintelligent undead basically become totally under your controll. |
| divide_by_zero11-05-07, 11:36 PM | The undead controlled via spells do not count against the amount of undead you can control by using the Cleric's rebuke/command class feature. |
| Quizzit11-06-07, 12:39 AM | I'm a Wizard. Command Undead is a 2nd lvl Wiz/Sorc Spell on page 211 of the PHB. The spell does not give any indication on how many undead an be controlled at one time. Animate dead gives rules forhow many HD of undead you can control with the spell as 5 times yoru current HD. Does controlling undead count against that total or is it its own separate thing? |
| The_Cheeseman11-06-07, 01:26 AM | There is no limit to the number of undead you can affect at any given time with the command undead spell. It works pretty much exactly like charm monster, only for undead. Each spell only affects a single creature, however. The control undead spell can affect multiple targets at once, but is limited by the number of HD you can control at one time (2 HD/caster level, according to the spell's description). This limit is not in any way related to the pool of undead controlled by the animate dead spell, or by a cleric's command/rebuke undead ability. Essentially, a character can control 1 HD/level of undead via rebuke/command undead, 4 HD/level via animate dead, 2 HD/level via control undead, and as many individual undead creatures as he can find via command undead, all at the same time. |
| Kitep11-06-07, 08:08 PM | Nope "Command Undead" (PHB) page 211 It's basically Charm person for undead, but nonintelligent undead basically become totally under your controll. So it is. My mistake. Looks like there's no upper limit. |
| Osedox11-06-07, 08:27 PM | The best thing to do with Command Undead is cast it through a Lesser Rod of Chain Spell. |
