From the 3.5 SRD:
Command
Enchantment (Compulsion) [Language-Dependent, Mind-Affecting]
Level: Clr 1
Components: V
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: One living creature
Duration: 1 round
Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: Yes
You give the subject a single command, which it obeys to the best of its ability at its earliest opportunity. You may select from the following options.
Approach: On its turn, the subject moves toward you as quickly and directly as possible for 1 round. The creature may do nothing but move during its turn, and it provokes attacks of opportunity for this movement as normal.
Drop: On its turn, the subject drops whatever it is holding. It can’t pick up any dropped item until its next turn.
Fall: On its turn, the subject falls to the ground and remains prone for 1 round. It may act normally while prone but takes any appropriate penalties.
Flee: On its turn, the subject moves away from you as quickly as possible for 1 round. It may do nothing but move during its turn, and it provokes attacks of opportunity for this movement as normal.
Halt: The subject stands in place for 1 round. It may not take any actions but is not considered helpless.
If the subject can’t carry out your command on its next turn, the spell automatically fails.

Command, Greater
Enchantment (Compulsion) [Language-Dependent, Mind-Affecting]
Level: Clr 5
Targets: One creature/level, no two of which can be more than 30 ft. apart
Duration: 1 round/level
This spell functions like command, except that up to one creature per level may be affected, and the activities continue beyond 1 round. At the start of each commanded creature’s action after the first, it gets another Will save to attempt to break free from the spell. Each creature must receive the same command.

Simple question, I hope. With the spell Greater Command, can you choose a new action each round, or do the subjects repeatedly follow the same command? With some actions that makes sense (like making them flee), but others aren't as simple. If you command them to approach, what do they do when they are adjacent to you?

Also, for the "drop" and "fall" command, can the subject take other actions after doing what it is commanded to do?

It's just one command, and that's the same command for everyone. It's not so much the spell making sense, it's how you use it. If you command them to approch, they will until adjacent to you, then act normaly. Of course, for the rest of the spell duration, they will approch you if you move.

---Of course, both droping an item and droping prone are free actions after all. For the rest of the round, they can act. They get the save at the start of their action to break the spell.

OK, thanks, that makes a lot of sense. Follow-up question:
At the start of each commanded creature’s action after the first, it gets another Will save to attempt to break free from the spell.
So they get a saving throw at the start of each action?? Does that mean they drop their weapons, declare that they will be taking a move action and get another save, then take a standard action to get another save?

Ugh, what a hassle.

The spell is wirtten, all you will realy do is give them more chances to break the spell. A creature is going to get 2 or 3 actions a round, so that's 2 or 3 saves. Sure makes for a short duration spell, but then maybe they made it that way. So yes, one save per action.

OK, thanks. That clears up most of it. We'll just hash out the details later. :)
