Are there any guidelines (official or homebrew) for adjudicating how much you can get with Commune with Nature?

E.G., with "presence of powerful unnatural creatures" you can choose to get powerful undead.

Water is 'major sources', this suggests only "significant" items noted.

What can you get with plants and minerals? Does this let a druid track down gold deposits and rare magical plants? That seems way too useful.

How about ruling:

Powerful generally means a creature/character with 11HD+

ground -terrain - you get the types of terrain by movement category per table 9-5 in PHB.

plants & minerals - ?

bodies of water - location of all major sources of safe drinking water.

people - you get location of powerful humanoids, or of large numbers (but not a settlement), as long as they are not in a built up area/home (which is blind spot), so mostly you get travellers, nomads, bandits, adventuring groups etc.

general animal population - ?

presence of powerful unnatural creatures - choose one category of monster and you locate where they are (if not in blind spot), from among: undead and abberations, outsiders (except elementals), constructs [or if you go with Eberron spells categories, perhaps just undead and aberrations]

general state of natural setting - drought, forest fire, heat wave, cold snap other environmental or disaster condition current or from which setting is recovering.

buildings (including ruins) and permanent settlements - blind spot, you don't locate anything in them though you can consciously choose as one of 3 items to learn "all blind spots". Since they're blind spots you can't choose between building, ruin, settlement though the size of blind spot may help determine it a bit.

Location is distance and direction. Could easily go astray following up without Survival skill.

I pretty much use it to the fullest extent of revelation. After all, how often do druids get to be the party diviner?
