Why does a Cloak of Resistance +1 cost 1,000 gp, while a Collar of Resistance +1 costs less than half that amount (490 gp)?

Wouldn't a character be better oof wearing the collar?

I can only think because it's restricted to animal-only.

Heron is right. It only works for animals. Although I normally object to pice reductions for "custom" items, this one makes sense for a number of reasons. Nobody actually *purchasing* the item can use it. Further, it will not work on familiars (magical beast) or paladin mounts. Basically, it lets a druid protect his or her animal companion a little better, and it lets any character protect a pet.

Doesn't get more "specifically" than that. And besides, if it isn't vegetable or mineral, isn't it by definition animal? Your barbarian is a [monstrous humanoid]. An [animal] cannot have an intelligence above 2. Then again, I don't know your barbarian. :P
