| technodemon10-14-03, 03:13 PM | I am new to magic magic items for our group and want to do some nifty things but need help. In order to make magic items, they to be masterwork items to be enchanted with spells and enhancedments. Now the question I have what components are consider to be masterwork. Or what items do I need to make an item to be masterwork? |
| kreynolds10-14-03, 03:20 PM | See pages 122 and 126 of the 3.5 PH for info on masterwork armor and weapons. See page 71 of the 3.5 PH, Creating Masterwork Items. |
| technodemon10-14-03, 03:34 PM | That does not help or tells me little. For creating weapons and armor of magic, I need what type materials, like the type metal is consider for masterwork or is there more like do I need gems, or something? |
| Seeker9510-14-03, 03:36 PM | You don't need to know any of that. It just costs a certain amount of money to say it is masterwork. And for that, you just need to reference the pages that kreynolds told you about. |
| technodemon10-14-03, 04:04 PM | For roleplaying aspect, how would you know to gather the right materials/components when you make the item masterwork. Cause in the DMG certain metals, if meory is right, can be enchanted. |
| L33t Angel10-14-03, 04:13 PM | Alright a Masterwork weapon is a well made weapon. It costs more because it is made well. Different qualities can runt he gamut of making a weapon masterwork. If the weapon is perfectly balanced it is MWK. If it is weighted perfectly for the severign of skulls it is MWK. If it is adorned with various hooks, etc. it is MWK. You cannot add a Masterwork component to an item once the item has been made. Any normal item can be masterwork. A masterwork item is made of normal materials, just made well. Now, there are Special materials that can be used to forge weaponry. These materials have their own special qualities in addition to defeating special DRs. Adamantine - Natural Enhancement Bonus, natural DR for armor. Mithral - Lighter and quicker Darkwood - Mithral wood. Cold Iron - Harder to enchant. Hurts fey and demons. Alchemical Silver - Deals slightly less damage. Hurts lycanthropes and other creatures. |

This is something you would need to ask your DM, as this is above and beyond the rules. More than likely, it would probably just be about selecting a good grade of iron ore or something. Certain metals have special properties of their own, like mithral and adamantine, but any metal can be enchanted. |

| technodemon10-14-03, 04:39 PM | Materwork items. Cause the plac my group is in now metal very low and little in supply with no minning areas for miles. So I may have to use different materials like bone or organic materials. |

| Seeker9510-14-03, 06:08 PM | technodemon, this is a conversation that you really need to just have with your DM. At this point, either you do not understand the rules enough to really make any of our answers helpful, or your game is so different from the core rules that your DM is the only one with the answers in the first place. |
