| Rebornarcanist03-09-06, 07:41 AM | A spell like Illusionary pit (lvl 6 Complete arcana) has a duration of concentration/1 round pr. level. Does that mean that: 1. When you cease to concentrate the spell lasts 1 round pr. level before ending. 2. You can concentrate on maintaining this spell for 1 round pr. level Help |
| Lord Lorac Silvanos03-09-06, 08:00 AM | Number 1. |
| Rebornarcanist03-09-06, 08:30 AM | Good , this makes the spell mentioned even moore powerfull. I interpreted it the same way, just wanted to be sure. |
| Vedic Cold03-09-06, 01:50 PM | Actually, it's number 2. A spell that lasts for a certain number of rounds after you cease concentrating is expressed as follows: Summon Swarm Conjuration (Summoning) Level: Brd 2, Drd 2, Sor/Wiz 2 Components: V, S, M/DF Casting Time: 1 round Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Effect: One swarm of bats, rats, or spiders Duration: Concentration + 2 rounds Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: No If a spell reads Duration: Concentration/1 round per caster level, it means that you may concentrate to maintain it for a maximum of 1 round per caster level. |
| Talon Stormwarden03-09-06, 01:55 PM | Vedic Cold is correct, as far as the information the OP posted. However, it's actually option 1, but I know this only because I looked at the spell. The duration is actually expressed as "Concentration + 1 round/level". No room for interpretation there. |
| Lord Lorac Silvanos03-09-06, 02:02 PM | I happened to be looking in CA at the time too, sorry for not reading things properly. |
| Vedic Cold03-09-06, 02:03 PM | Thanks for the clarification, Talon. At work now, so no CA available to consult, so I didn't realize that was actually the entry for the spell. |
| Talon Stormwarden03-09-06, 02:21 PM | Oh, no problem, I didn't mean to imply anything disparaging. I had the book right here. |
| Lord Lorac Silvanos03-09-06, 02:35 PM | Did not think you were :) But I will try to read the question more carefully the next time instead of mindlessly flipping open a book. |
