If I metamagic up a spell, and get hit with an AOO due to casting it, what is my concentration check based on the original level of the spell or the meta magiced level? I am thinking of a 5th level wizard casting an empowered RoE. I think the conc check should be 15+1=16 to hget it off without invoking an AOO. |

My basic rule is: When not using Heighten, Spell level is always considered the one the caster does not prefer, while when using Heighten it is always the higher one. This statement basically summarizes what WoTC says to do using about 3 pages worth of writing including all the 'exceptions', 'we really mean...', etc. etc. |

Not only are you using a higher level slot to pay for the extra oomph in a spell, and your DC doesnt go up with it unless you heighten, you also get penalized on the concentration check? I notice you say I would use, so this is not spelled out clearly? |
