09-30-06, 10:07 AM what types of actions can be done while concetratinga spell?

I mean, I've found the folowing feat:
CONCENTRATION SPELL [Metamagic]
You can extend the duration of your spells through concentration.
Benefit: You can maintain a spell which has a duration longer than one round through concentration. You must start concentrating right after casting the spell, and, for as long as you keep it up, need not count time off the spell's duration. After you stop maintaining the spell, its normal duration resumes and then terminates as usual. You cannot use this feat to maintain a spell past ten times its normal duration nor can you resume concentration. A Concentration Spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell's normal level.

and I was wondering, can I do "vigorous circle"(from CD) and then go for melee while everyone gains the spell benefits (as long as I manage the concetration checks, that is)
can I cast other magics while concetrating on some? (for example - sending lots of virtually endless spiritual wepons against my foes)
what are the restrictions?
I've read the description in the srd, couldn't find answerds to the 2 examples above though.

09-30-06, 11:09 AM I believe concentrating on a spell is a standard action. Could be wrong though. But if I'm right, there's no attacking/spellcasting for you.

Concetration checks are made as standard actions, thus you can only maintain one spell with it (pretty much indeffinatly though) and you can only do move actions or move equivalent actions.

so unless you figure some way of turning a move action into some kinda attack action then no. BUT you can still use quickened spells since they free/swift actions, so yea.

09-30-06, 12:09 PM Off course, with a heward's handy haversack (move action) and some kind of item that allows you to fly (move action), you could still drop (free action) daggers and rocks from above while concentrating ;)

09-30-06, 12:17 PM yea i actually did that with greater mage hand and a bag of holding lol. my DM was ******!

i hid in the bag and floated HIGH up and since i was undead at the time i didn't need to eat/breath/sleep, so essentially i did that +major creation to drop tons of crap on ppl lol

The cheapest bag of holding weighs 15 lb, I thought mage hand was limited to 5 lb?

one last question, can I consetrate on several magics togather?
I mean, lest say I'm casting mass bull strength, followed by mass owl wisdom followed by mass bear's endurence followed by 3 spiritual weapons(just for laugh) followed by fly (great idea, btw)
can I concetrate on them ALL in 1 standard action? and using the move action to redirect ALL the weapons each time to a different targets (but have them all attack the same one, ofcorse)

yes, I know its totally ineffective and most battles will be over by the time I'll finish everything up there, its only hypothatic (and for laugh) :)

09-30-06, 02:24 PM You can only usually concentrate on one spell at a time. However, you could combine that metamagic with the spell sonorous hum from the Spell Compendium which concentrates on a spell for you. Use Persistent Spell on sonorous hum and Concentration Spell on something else you'd like to "persist" which you otherwise couldn't. Have sonorous hum concentrate on that spell for you.

Greate mage hand lets you have up to 40lbs, its a second level spell from spell compendium.

and i have the bag turned sideways and left open, i wasn't aiming anything i was just thowing crap outta the bag. lol

and to the questions about conectrating and a whole slew of things. not really. since its a standard action to do it you have to get something else to concentrate, like euch said. now you can cast more spells as quickened spells and still be fine. so yea.
