GOt a question about if u can start a cone a specific way (particularly with burning hands). X's are the area of the spell and O's are the caster. _ are just spaces to even stuff out Here is the way the templet is drawn XXX XXX _X _O _X _XX _XXX O Wondering if you could cast it X XX XXX O Doesnt make sense to me looks like you would be casting the spell actually to the left of the caster. Tell me what you guys think. |

It starts from any corner of your square and widens out as it goes. In the example you give, the spell starts from the upper left of your square and shoots to the upper right. |

Are you saying I can have the cone start wide and narrow as it goes out? I haven't checked the SRD but the previous reference states the cone starts in a square next to you and widens as it goes out - which seems to contradict a reverse cone - if I understood your post. |

(The cones in the DMG are symmetrical, but many third-party cones stagger area of effect to more "closely" represent a stright line down the right and left sides of the cone.) |
