Having a bit of a problem making a ruling on a problem in a game I'm running and wanted some input.

Currently running the 3rd book of the Drow Wars series and the PC's engaged a Mothering Mass and entered the MM's Telepathy Zone and failed their will saves and were put under the effect of the zone (acts as read thoughts cast by a 24th level caster). After struggling with the creature someone cast Mind Blank on themselves (22nd or 23rd level caster).

Our problem is this:

Since the PC is already under the effect of the Telepathy Zone (and it's effective caster level is higher than the PC) does the Mind Blank spell negate the effects of read thoughts or does it simply prevent new effects from affecting the caster?

Thanks!

The subject of Mind Blank becomes immune to any effect which attempts to locate him, or read his mind. This includes effects which are already in place. Just like if you're affected by poison, but become immune to poison before you make your second save. The effect is there already, but you're immune to it.
