In Tactics and Tips: The Forgotten Grimoire (Part 2) it states "If used underground, commune with nature would allow you to know every tunnel, passageway, and air pocket within the spell's impressive range. That's far better than using prying eyes or other scrying/divination magic to scout out each individual path." Just to be clear, The Forgotten Grimoire and the PH3 are not in contradiction as the Forgotten Grimoire states 'underground' NOT dungeon, right? Restating, Commune with Nature works in caves and natural labyrinths, but not dungeons. Fernleaf |

Note, however, that Commune with Nature's range is trimmed down significantly underground, something FG seems to have overlooked: In natural underground settings—caves, caverns, and the like—the radius is limited to 100 feet per caster level. For that matter, it's really not as powerful as they make it out to be: you only learn three facts, which is a far cry from having scouted out an entire natural labyrinth. Really, it looks like the Grimore that's been forgotten here is the PHB. Find the Path, on the other hand... now *there's* a useful scouting divination. |
