| Schwarg04-08-04, 07:34 PM | As per level, what items would you create with the gps you get as per the DMG? Picture yourself a standard basic wizard with high int, good dex, mediocre con, lame everything else. You may only have a couple item creation feats. Maybe Wondorous and one other. How would you spend your gold each level you go up provided you have extra xp and time on your hands. Thanks, Schwarg |

Market price: 80,000 Cost to create: 40,000 XP 1600 If the base price is 80,000gp, then the XP cost will be 1/25 that amount: 3200 XP. Most useful item ever: Brooch of the Jester, continuous prestidigitation. Base price: 2000gp, Cost to create: 1000gp + 80xp. (0.5 [SL] x 1 [CL] x 2000 [continuous] x 2 [unslotted]) = 2000gp |
| Finwe04-09-04, 10:36 AM | I second Heron! |
| BlackFiend04-09-04, 10:47 AM | I vote Heron! Heron is king! Frodo lives! |
| Seeker9504-09-04, 12:32 PM | Heron, I thought a brooch took up the amulet / brooch / periapt slot. :P Time to cut that price in half! |
| Kyuketsukiouji04-09-04, 12:53 PM | This is 3.0, since DR got made a lot poorer in 3.5: Robes +1, Heavy Fortification, Enhanced Invulnerability (as Invulnerability, but costs +4 armor enchantment for DR 12/-) |
| Mirror, Mirror04-09-04, 01:09 PM | Be an Exalted caster and make items with DR/good.:smirk: |
| ninja104-09-04, 04:19 PM | Best items to create?? Can we use Dark Craft, Agony, and Souls in the item creation? If so, then don't forget the +Knowledge (religion) item. :) I would vote for Heron_Marked_Blade too. Continuous Prestidigitation is too damn cool. But unless I was hurting for open item slots, I'd probably agree with Seeker95 and make it sloted. I must say, that my character would find life a bit harder without a Ring of Sustenance and a Ring of Mindshielding..... |

If I may ask, what spells went into making this and what formulas did you use to price it? |
| Hot Rod04-09-04, 05:05 PM | Use activated 1/day pouch of goodberries. 420gpv, never worry about rations again. (2d4 berries/day) The healing facet (1pt/berry) is nice too :) |
| DemonMonkeyBoy04-10-04, 04:06 AM | :b: :banghead: I really have to remove those prices. I did that back when I was still learning the 3.0 pricing and just never fixed it. Just forget the price and use the item. :D |
| ninja104-11-04, 09:34 PM | I can't believe I forgot the obvious answer!! !! The best item to create is: A Lich's Phylactery!! |
| Heron_Marked_Blade04-11-04, 11:31 PM | Originally posted by Seeker95 Heron, I thought a brooch took up the amulet / brooch / periapt slot. :P Time to cut that price in half! Ah, true! I usually wear other Amulets, so I always make this one an unslotted item since it cost such a piddling amount to do so. This is such a useful roleplaying aid, I can't recommend it enough. :) |
| beaver102404-12-04, 08:42 AM | Forget wizard, get a cleric and craft an item that gives a continous Divine Favour, Divine Power and Righteous Might effect. |
| ninja104-12-04, 09:16 AM | Originally posted by beaver1024 Forget wizard, get a cleric and craft an item that gives a continous Divine Favour, Divine Power and Righteous Might effect. If an NPC created the Divine Power item, would it give the user a fighter's BAB equal to the user's level or the makers? |
| Heron_Marked_Blade04-12-04, 09:17 AM | Originally posted by beaver1024 Forget wizard, get a cleric and craft an item that gives a continous Divine Favour, Divine Power and Righteous Might effect. Should a DM allow such an item.... Righteous Might: (SL 5 x CL 9 x 2000gp continuous x 4 duration) = 360,000gp Divine Favor: (SL 1 x CL 9 x 2000gp continuous x 2 duration) = 36,000gp Divine Power: (SL 4 x CL 9 x 2000gp continuous x 4 duration) = 288,000gp Multiple Abilities: Righteous Might = 360,000gp Divine Favor = 36,000 x 1.5 = 54,000gp Divine Power = 288,000 x 1.5 = 432,000gp Base Price: 846,000gp --> Epic Magic Item Benefit of said item: increase size category by one step +8 size bonus to STR, +4 size bonus to CON +4 enhancement bonus to natural armor DR 5/good (or evil) +3 luck bonus to attack/damage BAB = character level (I would argue that it's the caster's character level at the item's time of creation) +6 enhancement bonus to STR +9 temporary hit points |
| ninja104-12-04, 10:15 AM | Yeah, anything with a market value over 200,000 gp is only available if made as an epic magic item. Even breaking them into 3 seperate items wouldn't work. On top of that, whenever there are multiple formulas that might apply, we should probably use the highest like the [n^2 x 1000] and other exponential factors. The most appropriate equations would probably be an ad-hoc of allready existing formulas. Ultimately, we would have to rate it based off of allready existing items. I would rate them as much more powerful than many of the major magic items in print. (I would also agree that it's the caster's BAB = character level at the item's time of creation) So, for 3.0 how about a "once per day, command word activated, persistant Divine Power item"? Would it be: (SL 8 x CL 15 x 1800gp command word / (5/1 time per day)) = 43,200 gp Or even 57,600 at 20th level. The main drawback being that it cannot be reactivated in the same day that the spell was dispelled or supressed. |
