I, a 20th level archmage, ran into another archmage exactly like me, except that he had a contingent teleport for such an occasion and i had a time stop. We both saw each other coming, so what would have happened? Would I have been in time stop with or without him around? If with him, I'd drop a dimensional lock and some summon 9's and delayed fireballs. What would happen?

And, which is the better contingency?

Well, it seems that whether he gets away before you stop time is a factor of which contingency spell triggers first, and that depends on the wording of the triggers.

Assuming that somehow there was no advantage to either caster, both spells would go off at the same time. He would be teleported and not where you are at the same moment that time ceased to flow.

To suggest that he did not teleport is to assume that your spell went into effect before his did, some how.

Which method would be preferrable? And what other contingency/spells/items should I have?
