There's been an arguing between the members of my group about this spell, and few questions came up recently among others...

can a caster use contingency on the following scenarios?

ex1:

caster1 sets contingency to trigger when someone casts fireball at him and then contingency will activate a fire shield or any other spell to protect him against fire. If the caster is unconcious will the contingency be activated?

ex2:

caster1 sets contingency to trigger a teleport when a psion manifests Control Sound . If said psion manifests Control Sound targeting the caster will the contingency be triggered ?

***sorry about any spelling errors...

1) If he specifies an exact defense against the fireball, yes.
2) Yes, the contingency resolves first.

Agreed. Yes on both counts.

Thank you guys
I've just spent all afternoon having this huge discussion with another player about contingency, and almost cried when he saw Craft Contingent Spell from CA and I said that the feat was even better than the spell because the only limits are money and 1 contingent spell/HD :D :D :D :D :D :D

Wasnt there the tiny bit about the xp cost? :)

:tiphat: you got me there... but this a fair price to pay if you consider the benefits...
and btw I figured out why such a long discussion took place, after all, one of the players being a psion, can't have access to this feat (and this is just icing in the cake ;) )
