| Scandal03-31-04, 04:44 PM | Why is this spell an Evoc spell and not abjur or conjur or even divination for that matter.. I just don't understand why it is evoc please explain, anyone... -Scan |
| schulerta03-31-04, 05:16 PM | It was probably a toss up between Conjuration and Evocation. Conjuration has 53 spells, Evoc has 45 spells (in PHB including Contingency), so they figured, let's give one more to evocation. That is my guess. Troy |
| smrtgmp03-31-04, 05:18 PM | Evocation is also the creation and manipulation of energy. That was always my reasoning for Contingency being evocation. |
| Scandal03-31-04, 05:20 PM | I guess My biggest question is would it unbalance anything to move Contingency to Conjuration instead I just dont see it as an Evocation spell... -Scan |

Other than that, if you are using 3.5, Conj. got a major power boost with the addition of the teleport spells. By giving contingency, Conj. becomes almost at outrageous as Trans. But why Conj.? It's not creating something or bringing it from somewhere else. It's using what you already have and simply delaying the activation. Think of it like sort of similar to Delayed Blast Fireball. |
| Scandal03-31-04, 05:34 PM | Actually to tell you the truth my first thought on Contingency is it belongs in Abjuration due to the protection potential and As I see it it was made for protection, then I was thinking Divination do to it being almost like a foresight and preperation for something to happen.. But you're right giving it to Conj. would make conj quite powerful.. -Scan |
