When you cast mage's lucubration is the naming of the
spell you want to recall part of the casting or does the lucubration ask for a parameter when it "goes off" ? I want to use mage's lucubration in a contingency and need to know if I can choose which spell I wish to recall when the contingency goes off or if I have to state the spell I wish to recall back when I cast lucubration/contingency.

Thank you.

i would say it would fall under the rules of the lucabration spell. you would have had to already cast a spell within 24 hours to get the effects of the spell.

are you using this to get around the affecting only you requirement of contingency? you would contingent lucibration which affects only you but then use lucabration to cast a spell that doesnt affect you. i guess you could do that. a better spell might be spell matrix.

thanks for the idea.

I cast contingency and mage's lucubration saying I want the contingency to go off when I say the word "fusill". Later on that day I cast my last fireball but it isn't enough and so I say "fusill". Now can I get my fireball spell back or was I supposed to think ahead and name which spell I needed back when I cast the contingency and mage's lucubration?

There is nothing in the rules that specifies that you need to name the spell. When Mordenkainen's Lucubration you get back one spell of your choice. Period. So you should be able to contingency that just fine (I do it all the time).
