What happens if you have contingent energy resistance on and you get hit by a spell which consists of equal amounts of different energy types?

You divide the damage by energy type, and apply resistance as appropriate.

Example: You have fire res 5 and electricity resistance 10 and are struck by a hypothetical spell dealing 30 points evenly divided between fire/electricity/sonic (ie fire10/electricity10/sonic10). Your resistance stops half the fire damage and all the electricity damage, and thus you take fire 5 and sonic 10 (total 15).

Edit: Oops, sorry, missed the reference to "contingent" energy resistance. Don't have access to the spell description.

if it came up in my game I would let the player choose which energy type the restistance affects from among the different types that hit him. (although I suppose you cold also roll randomly or something to determine which energy type hit his body a fraction of a second earlier then the others).

Or you could give him half and half resistance in each...why not.
