| Haran_Banjo05-10-05, 05:21 AM | I have a question regarding one of the most abused spells in my player's group. The Mystic Theurge (Clr3/Wiz3/Mth10) has Practiced Spellcaster from the Complete Divine for both his Clr and Wiz classes. So his caster level (but not spells per day) is 16 in both cases. This is already enough overpowered, imho. However, that's not the main question. Since he's a 16th level caster, he can cast a Contingency to cast a Wall of Force spell. (16/3 = 5 (round down)) He puts the contingent condition to that: "whenever someone attacks me or an enemy cast a spell upon me, cast wall of force shaped around me". In my opinion, that's like saying that a 6th level spell can grant you complete invulnerability. What do you think about that? It is acceptable, and if yes why? It's a correctly stated "contingent-sentence"? Thanks anyone. I think that, in my game, this is a great unbalancing effect. |

This means spells with the range of personal (and I'd include ones with Target: creature touched since they can effect the caster as well). Besides, even if he could do wall of force, it's immoble, blocks physical weapons, and it blocks line of effect (unless he uses it outside or someplace with no roof) so he can't even cast spells through it. |
