Control Construct? [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-10-07, 04:20 PM Is there a spell like this? Maybe a Class ability or anything? I need to defend against it if it exists and you guys could really help me out! Thanks!:confused:

02-10-07, 05:03 PM The closest I can think of is dominating the creator to give over control to you and then killing him, but that won't help in most cases.

02-10-07, 05:07 PM Closest I recall (officially) is the Control Amulet for a Shield Guardian. Have it stolen or replicated, and you got a renegade Golem on the loose.

02-10-07, 05:24 PM The shield gaurdian technicly isn't a golem and I don't think you can recreate the control amulet.

02-10-07, 05:44 PM There is no way in the core RAW that I am aware of to control Golems like you are suggesting. Short of Using a limited Wish or a Wish/Miracle allow the caster to dominate constructs.

Note you cannot directly target a construct with either spell, as they both have Spell Resistance: Yes.

A 7th or 9th level spell might allow such a limited control. But really that's it that I can think of.

02-10-07, 06:39 PM There's a feat "Green Ear" that allows you to affect Plants with Bardic Music, wouldn't be a huge jump to make a similar feat for constructs and use Suggestion on it. That's as close as I can figure without researching a new spell.

02-10-07, 10:50 PM The Fiend of Possession PrC (FF) Possess & Control Creature ability are supernatural and not mind-affecting. The whole possesion thing is further expanded on and given access to fiends in EbCS & Fiendish Codex I.
