i have a 15th level druid who happens to be involved in a war situation and i am helping to defend a fortified city from from a horde of like 50,000 1 HD humaniod rat creatures(medium).

i am looking through my spells to find a good one for mass destruction and BAM!!! i come across control winds!!!

at 15th level i can change no winds into tornado force winds instantly in a 600 foot radius!!! any creature smaller than huge has to make a reflex save(DC 30)every round or fly back like 1d4x10 feet and take 1d4 damage for every 10 feet!!!

while this would not be great against high level enemies, it excells against low ones. just thought i would mention it since it suprised me.

Generally speaking, masses of low level enemies are easy to descimate with high level casters.

the only reason i mentioned it is because of it realativly low level and and its gigantic area. it there another spell that can kill all 1 HD creatures in a 600' radius?

have you looked at spike growth or spike stones lately?

oh sure, it's dependent on them going through it... except that it is a very nice shapeable spell, with a rather large area, and it deals damage based on how many squares of it they move through. oh, and the duration is ridiculously long, as i recall. definitely you can do a lot of damage with these spells, and they are available pretty early on.

Actually, IIRC it can only do subdual damage, so you won't actually kill anyone. You can render them unconscious for several days, though.
