| tiluvias9904-02-07, 01:43 PM | Any good ways to do this? Rebuking works great, but unless you invest a lot in pumping your effective turning level to ridiculousness, the only things it works on are too weak to matter. Command Undead works great too, but only with nonintelligent undead, which sucks majorly. This is slightly lessened by the fact that one can (with a DC 20 Diplomacy check) make the newly Commanded Intelligent undead Helpful (will take risks to help and protect you) as opposed to simply friendly. Control Undead is 7th Level, allows a Will Save AND Spell Resistance, and only lasts 1 minute per level, all of which suck hard core. One might be able to use Dominate Monster with a metamagic rod of Song of the Dead to get it, but that takes a 9th level spell, which is way out of my range. Are there any ways I'm missing? |

| nephsytis04-03-07, 07:21 PM | a level 5 palemaster can command undead with no save once per day. requires u to give up one caster level though. |

Leadership doesn't let you pick followers and say "those are my followers" or "that is my cohort". It lets you try to attract followers and cohorts through social means, but it's a long-term process whose ins and outs are controlled by your DM. Making it apply to undead you've specifically created seems too specific for the way Leadership is supposed to work. I would recommend instead checking out the Dread Necromancer class. |
| tiluvias9904-04-07, 01:11 PM | a level 5 palemaster can command undead with no save once per day. requires u to give up one caster level though.Yeah, but that only lasts 1 round per level. Which... kinda sucks, for the long term. The PC in question already has both Leadership and Undead Leadership. Neither allows for "kill something, raise it, command it and all of it's abilities" though. Animate Dread Warrior works, but only on humanoids. Animate dead works, but only for meat shields. Create Undead is the only spell that allows essentially anything (via bone and corpse template), but provides no method of absolute control like the previous two. I'm trying to find a way to get that absolute control. Diplomacy works, but it doesn't let you control them. The undead creature is still under he control of the DM, which is bad news. Necrotic Tumor works, but only on living creatures. Is there some way to be able to use Necrotic Tumor on undead creatures? |

| katarl04-07-07, 09:00 AM | master of the undead complete mage feat requires 5 ranks k religion lasts 1 day/cl, and works on one undead created only |
| tiluvias9904-07-07, 10:26 PM | Huh? Could you explain that a bit further? |
| katarl04-08-07, 09:16 AM | Huh? Could you explain that a bit further? Whats to explain? Its called master of undead, its a feat in complete mage, it allows you to control one undead you create with any spell for a day per caster level, after which you lose control. It works with create undead, just tell it to jump in some lava before you reach its limit. You can only control one at a time, and control is total. |
| tiluvias9904-08-07, 09:31 AM | Interesting. Sounds pretty nifty. Too bad about the whole free-willed thing after x days. Is there any way to get around that? |
