I've used it several times in games DMed by other people, and I have seen it being used several more times. I am still somewhat confused, though, as to how exactly an anti-magic field surrounding you affects you. Okay, great, so you've cast an antimagic field, that travels along with you and suppresses magic from spells and items within its confines, including yours. That your items don't work for a while is not a surprise, but how about your spells? What if, say, you were to want to cast a simple, good old fireball? Will the anti-magic field allow you to carry your ensorcelled ball of bat crap out of the dead magic zone you've enacted around you, or will it cause your spell to fizzle before it actually leaves your hand in the first place? Same goes for simple glamers, phantasms, compulsions, etc. Effects that generally aren't confined to your antimagic field. Will they fizzle and die before actually happening? I found the amount of clarification that the spell description itself gave me to be quite inadequate. I hope that some of you D&D whizzes can help me clarify this. :P |

Cleric casts it and charges enemy, beating into it with his mace, and the wizard starts lobbing Ord of Fire, Cold, Acid, or Electricity spells. I was planning on doing that against the Lich Queen of the Githyanki during the Incursion adventure, before taking her down in the surprise round with Split Rayed Sudden Maximized Disintegrates. |
