Howdie folks,

So between Libris Mortis, Unearthed Arcana, and other stuff, there are a lot of things that can augment created undead.

I wanted a way to have some undead npcs to harrass my group that had all of these benefits in place.

In an effort to combine the many feats and special abilities, I turned to the Cooperative Spell Metamagic Feat.

I currently have a number of mid-level npcs that each have different feats from Libris Mortis. I want to use Lesser Metamagic Rods of Cooperative Spell to allow them to work together Animating Dead, and provide the undead with the benefits from each of the Caster's Feats.

By the rules, I believe that each caster would have to provide their own material components.

In most cases where Cooperative Spell is used, I'll bet this isn't an issue. However, spells with costly material components can really put a drain on the purse.

Would you folks agree?

I want to suggest a house rule that would allow Cooperative Spell used in conjunction with spells that have costly material components to only require one "set" of material components.

Further, in a case like Animate Dead, the component requirement would come from the caster to be determined as the "primary caster".

I say this because I would hate for one skeleton to count against the control limit of each spell caster in a circle of 5 necromancers.

Does this sound reasonable?

Sounds reasonable to me. The general consensus on the CO boards about that feat is that it is weak, anyway. No sense making it even worse by having to pay multiple material costs and having the undead count towards multiple control pools. Good idea, though. I'll have to use this when the PCs in my game run into the Red Wizards again.
