The party i am in right now is 6th level

ranger/revenant blade
wizard
cleric
thrown weapon build halfling
druid
rogue

We have the key to an office and we need to copy 4000 pages worth of material in 4 hours while the person is away.

Does any1 know of a magic item or ability or spell that allows us to do this?

Our idea was to summon as many monkeys as we can and use the fox's cunning spell to buff them up to 6 int and have copy all the pages by hand.

Would they be able to read common and write common?

thanks

Amanuensis

One thing to keep in mind is that this spell only copies text (debateable wether this includes lines and such on forms). It does not copy pictures or anything that isn't text. A little lame, imho...I imagine this restriction is there solely because they decided to go with 250 words per minute instead of something a bit more sensible like 1 page per minute.

No. Monkeys can't read, and you don't have time ot teach them. Also your summoned monkeys are only sticking around for what... ? 6 rounds. Man that idea really couldn't get any dumber.

To be helpful though, this is the kind of mundane thing you should be able to get done using prestidigitation.

just ask your DM to let you make a level 1 version of "Amanuensis" this spell would allow you to copy 2 pages a round including images. but not magical images like arcane marks and sigils, runes, etc.

seems fair to me for a level 1 spell.

so that would mean in 4 hours you can copy... 20 pages a minute at 60 minutes an hour times 4...

4800 pages

make the spell last for 10 minutes/level and it should be fair imo..
it gives you a good challege to try and get the spell to last for 4 hours and give you a chance to copy all those pages.

Or have him let you have a cantrip that copies two pages per minute and lasts ten minutes per caster level. Heck, even the above spell could be a cantrip without any trouble, imho.

...Cantrips are what fancy wizards like to call their 0th-level spells.

A cantrip is just a 0th level spell on the sorcerer/wizard spell-list.

but one problem. what ifi t is legal documents with pictures and logos on it?
the cantrip version doesn't let that happen and only lets you have 250 words/round.

250 words isn't really alot on a sheet of paper. handwritten you can average 500 a page. and roughly 750-1000 if its typed.

clearly not a cantrip.

Since you're technically living in d20 Modern, ask if you can just buy the books using a wealth check instead of actual money. As long as no book has a purchace DC of 15+, and as long as the DC doesn't exceed your current wealth, you can buy a copy for everyone, one at a time, for free.

we are not in d20 modern sorry if you thought so

this is the office of a shipping company in a huge city and we want to copy the papers that have information on the expensive items being moved in/out/around the city to give it to the thieves guild

there is somewhere between 250-350 words per page and it is completely text

then just spam that cantrip.

its a 0 level spell so with use activated its at most 1000 gp.. or something like that.
anyways grab one for each player and spam like mad. 3 people should get all of it if you manage on average 300 words a page.

good luck. ^_^

for body slot affinity make them rings, since hands do writing type stuff. and gloves can get in teh way of writing (sometimes, depends on the text complexity)
