I'm looking for a relatively low-level spell for destroying enemy bodies after a fight. Specifically, I'm looking to avoid undead reanimation and leaving a trail of corpses through enemy territory. Disintegrate works, of course, but it's a little high-level to spend on cleanup. Is there a cheap 1st or 2nd level spell out there for this?

Bag of Holding + Green Slime. Just dump the bodies in there to be digested, then Prestidigitation to get rid of the bloodstains.

I know this isn't going to be very helpful but if time isn't an issue you could sort of .........chop them up manually. That would prevent reanimation.

For the hiding of the bodies...I don't know. Drop a little piece here, a piece there. No one would notice.

If you are a 9th level wizard, you could make a bag of holding. That would do the trick.

Just burn the bodies.

Animate them yourself? :D

Shapechange into a Barghest and eat them?

Shrink Object on them, and stick them into a sack? (Corpses are objects, as far as I know.)

Bury them? Burn them? Ash is hard to re-animate, and they might be too lazy to dig...

umm if you want the cheapest way to prevent the BBEG from ever buging you again. zombie his ass and stick him in a bag of holding. because he is undead he can't be animated, because he is in an extra-dimensional space nothing can target him that needs line of sight etc, and because he is a zombie he'll live out unlife in a black hole not knowing any better.

i think for a scroll and a cheap bag it'd run you about 3k in gp.

wich is funny because the 9th level spell that traps souls to prevent animate costs 1k per HD of the creature in question. LOL

if all else fails. a 1gp dagger can rupter the bag and destroy everything inside it.

get a cursed bag of holding and "feed" the corpses to it.

put a gelatenous cube inside a bag of holding (its not sharp so it won't puincture it) and feed it corpses. just make sure you don't leave any sharp non organic objects on the body as they may get out of the cube and then rupture the bag.

there are alot of things that would involve a bag of holding! lol

Dust to Dust from Races of the Wild. It is a clerical spell.

There is a magical item in Dragon Magic that can be used once per corpse to either cast speak with dead or completely prevent animation of that corpse.

Reminds me of a campaign where my party would burn the bodies of everyone they killed to prevent them from getting back up and harassing them later. It worked well until they got to Sharn and continued doing the same thing, except they'd also toss the body off a bridge.

Nothing like flaming dead bodies falling out of the sky to **** off the watch.

Animate Dead needs a Intact body for animation So just take the head this prevents Speak with Dead spells too.

Removing corpses: Plan ahead and make Water to Acid from Stormwrack store it with Shrink Item Pile up the bodys and soak them in 80 gallons of acid per 5th caster lvl Shrink Item.
The good part is it will not impact your daily spell limit, cost you any gold or Exp from making/buying any one shot items and its safer than keeping monsters in your pockets who might get out of control.

If you have the will and you are going to find some solution, talk to your DM about a workable solution.

Holy water 'baptism' by your cleric seems reasonable and cheap. It sounds like you don't want to remove the bodies just make them unraisable. The party cleric has an interest in seeing souls go to final judgement. How does his church fight necromantic animation? Then take special measures for the BBEG if\when you kill him.

If the solution comes from your world setting it feels a lot less cheezy.

Burning bodies works, but it would take a lot of fuel and time to completely reduce a body to ash.

You might try summoning earth elementals and having them sink the body into the ground, though that is a higher level spell you are looking for.

Animating them yourself could work too. Just animate the body, take it to a marshy area and order it to dig itself into the mud, deep. It probably would not be found and would probably rot. By the same token, you could animate one or two of the corpses and have them dig a grave for the other while the party rests up. When finished, have it put the bodies in and cover the grave, then camoflage the grave. Keep the corpse around to repeat the process or until you reach a deep stream where you can order it to dig itself into the bank at the bottom of a deep part.

The only other low level solution would be to bury them yourself, throw them into water or something like that and hope that they aren't found before you get done what you are doing.

A rust colored Bag of Tricks might work... although "Feed" is not covered under the Handle Animal skill.

Edit: Just realized you were looking for a spell. Oops...

Since a dead body is considered an object (I believe) you could Shatter it.

Since a dead body is considered an object (I believe) you could Shatter it.At 10lb/lv that would take a pretty powerful caster even for medium corpses. Still, not a bad trick for a party with a warlock with baleful utterance.
