I've been introduced to DnD through a group of friends, and I've been working with a Necromancer. Started at lvl 3, I've kind of learned by hitting the ground running, and now that I am finding my niche, I've reached lvl 5 and a problem.

Magic items are few and far between. We've (as a party) been helping a fort surviving among a wasteland of ash. As such, trading for equipment or even purchasing is not an option, so we are left to scrounge. Since wood and basic metals and a makeshift forge is availble, I've decided to start by making wands and scrolls.

In the DMG it describes the Wands being created with 50 charges, which is fine, but I dont see any restrictions on making a wand fixed for "X times per day". If it's a spell I use frequent enough, could I make the wand with a few charges per day to improve it's long-term service, or must wands adhear to 50 charges at all times?

My DM has been a help, and has suggested to me to keep a 'Wand of Command Undead' on my person at all times (due to character type or unforseen circumstances, I am unsure). Since I also have the 'Extended Spell' and 'Eschew Materials' feats, is it recommended doing so in the creation of the wand, or does it at all matter?

And as for the Raven;
"Never More."

From what I have read on creating magic items a wand simply stores a spell and has 50 charges and no allowance for an X/day ability. A rod on the other hand could be created with the X/day ability with no charges. A bit more expensive but lasts much longer.

A wand is a 50 charge item. You want an Eternal Wand which is an item that requires both Craft Wand and Craft Wondrous Item to make and provides 1/day or 2/day abilities. In the Eberron Campaign book.

You can put Extend Spell on a Wand (mind the level adjust, since the adjusted spell can not exceed 4th level) but you could not put Eschew Materials into a Wand, but Wands only cost additional for the material components if the cost of the material is greater than 1 gp.

Thanks for clearing that up.
