Basically, I am stuck on figuring out the cost of components for the create greater undead effect, and therefore deciding how much value to place on the staff acting as a focus for soul bind. Here is what I have thus far: Epic Staff of Necromancy Market Price: 1,505,312 gp cost: 1,290,156 gp; 14,303 xp CL 27th 2 charges: soul bind (heightened to 16th-level) 16*27*375 = 162,000 /2 = 81,000 gp 2 charges: finger of death (heightened to 16th-level) 16*27*281.25 = 121,500 /2 = 60,750 gp 2 charges: circle of death (intensified, 13th-level) 13*27*187.5 = 65,812.5 /2 = 32,906.25 gp 1 charge: create greater undead (8th-level) 8*27*187.5 = 40,500 gp Base Price: 215,156 gp Component Cost: 1,075,000 gp Circle of death (500 gp/use): 500*25 = 12,500 gp That leaves an extra 1,062,500 gp worth of component costs between soul bind and create greater undead. Any ideas? |

Additionally, WotC Designers are not bound by the pricing guidelines. 3. The by-itself price of a single-ability item is rarely derivable from the component break-down of a multiple-ability item. An item that can store an infinite number of souls sounds more like an artifact, not an item a PC can craft with a set formula. |
